Olive Oil For Anti Aging Skin Care
The biggest reason for using natural skin care products is the fact that our skin – the largest bodily organ and first line of defense from bacterial and viral invaders – is constantly under siege. Sensitive skincare is necessary to help ward off the ravages of the sun, the weather, environmental toxins and not the least of all, aging. However, there is a bewildering variety of natural skin care products on the market – how does one choose?
A Long Tradition
Natural skin care products have been around for millennia. The ancient Egyptians used such ostrich eggs, olive oil, bread dough and resin for sensitive skin care; after going through the baths, wealthy Romans would have their skin oiled (usually with olive oil) and scraped by their attendants.

All Skin Is Different
The fact is that not everyone has the same skincare issues. Obviously, if your ancestors came from hot, sunny West Africa, you will have different skincare needs than someone whose ancestors were from the gray and gloomy dampness of Scandinavia. Those who are ‘melanin-challenged’ often need skin care products for sensitive skin, particularly if they spend a great deal of time in the sun.
Basically, skin comes in three varieties:
– Sensitive
– Dry
– Oily
Your skincare needs will be determined by which of the above describes your skin. For example, sensitive skin can best be treated using a hypoallergenic skin care regimen that avoids the use of concentrates and inorganic substances such as petroleum.
In addition, our skincare needs change as we age; we lose moisture and collagen. It is the loss of collagen that causes our skin to wrinkle as years go by. Anti aging skin care products can address age-related issues like this.
Quality Ingredients
Olive oil is still used in the Mediterranean and Middle Eastern region for skincare purposes, but many other plant-based substances are also part of the skincare apothecary.
Some of these are:

Jojoba (hoe-HOE-buh): a plant native to the Southwestern deserts of Arizona, California and Sonora, this was used by the O’odham Indians for centuries in treating burn injuries.

Rose Hip Seed Oil: rich in vitamin A, this oil is also high in Omega 3 and 6, and is effective in treating dermatitis and acne. It’s also frequently used in anti aging skin care products.
Tea Tree Oil: This extract of the Australian melaleuca tree has a very strong, pungent yet pleasant smell; it is known to have both antifungal and antiseptic properties.
These are just a few of the ingredients you’ll find in quality natural skin care products. Look for these when you are shopping for natural skin care products online or your favorite brick-and-mortar store.
